Head-Up Display Glass Is Not Interchangeable
If your Silverado, Tahoe or Corvette projects speed onto the windshield, that glass contains a wedge-shaped interlayer built specifically to stop the projected image doubling. A standard windshield is optically parallel and will produce two offset images — a permanent distraction that cannot be calibrated out. HUD glass costs more for a reason. We confirm HUD before ordering, not after.
Chevy Safety Assist Recalibration
Forward collision alert, lane keep assist and following distance indicator read through a camera mounted at the top of the windshield. GM calibration is typically a static procedure — targets set at measured distances on a level floor — which is why it is not something to skip or eyeball in a parking lot. We set up properly and verify the system reports ready before we leave.
Silverado Glass and Work-Truck Reality
A Silverado that hauls gets a different life than one that commutes. Rock chips cluster low on the passenger side where trailer tires throw debris, and that zone is often repairable if you catch it early. Damage in the driver's sightline is not — Texas inspection takes a dim view of it, and so does anyone merging at 70 mph.
